Concerto Competition Guidelines

The Concerto Competition consists of a preliminary round and a final round:
Preliminary round - A video submission of a specified concerto movement is required. Performances must be memorized and played without repeats. Contestants are responsible for necessary accompaniment*, though accompanimental parts will not be included in the adjudication process. Results will be announced on the official website (ETA July 9th) and a direct notice will be sent to contestants. Contestants who attain a score of 88 or above will be eligible to advance into the final round.

Video recording and submission guidelines:

  a. Please note that video submissions are deemed as official performances in the preliminary round. To ensure the quality of your video, consider the following: record in a publicly accessible location, wear formal attire, and shoot in landscape orientation. Videos must be completely unedited, shot entirely with a consistent angle, and display the contestant’s full body and instrument. Violations will result in disqualification.

  b. Video tiles should adhere to the following format: [contestant’s name] -2025 One & Only Music Competition - [instrument] (e.g. John Smith -2025 One & Only Music Competition - Cello)

  c. Upload the video onto YouTube and email the link to
oaomc.taiwan@gmail.com. Contestants may complete the registration
form and payment in advance, then submit the link by June 20th via
email. Inaccessible links will lead to disqualification. Please ensure
functionality before submission.

  d. All preliminary round videos will be published onto the organization’s
official YouTube channel, at 12:00 PM the day after the registration
deadline, for public viewing. Contestants must ensure their recording
environment is appropriate for public release. Non-compliance with the
publishing procedures will result in forfeiture of participation in the
competition.

Final round - a live performance of the specified concerto movement is
required. Performances must be memorized and played without repeats.

accompanimental parts will not be included in the adjudication process.

4. Finalists will be timed from the start of the first note on stage, including opening accompaniment or tuning). pedal extenders, chairs, and anti-slip mats, to ensure the quality of their
performance.

6. Contestants, accompanists, and assistants must arrive and leave the venue together. Adjudication and Awards

1. The competition invites renowned musicians and members of music
departments, who hold international standards to be part of the
adjudication panel. A panel of 7 judges will be appointed for 30 or more
contestants. A panel of 5 judges will be appointed for 20 to 29
contestants, and a panel of 3 judges will be appointed for fewer than 20
contestants.

2. For a panel of 5 or 7 judges, the final score will be determined by
calculating the trimmed mean. For a panel of 3 judges, the final score will
be calculated by averaging the total score. Performances that do not meet minimum standards will be withheld from ranking. In the event of a tie, ranking will be determined based on the total sum of the contestants’
scores.

3. All results are final and cannot be disputed.

4. Results will be announced at the end of each competition. Individual
scores and comments can be collected at the registration desk after
finalization. Results cannot be sent by mail or inquired separately.

letter for their instructor. First, second, and third prize winners will also
