Competition Regulations

Registration Instructions

1. The Performance Category of the One & Only Music Competition
provides participants with a professional stage experience. Those aiming
to compete for ranking should register under the Solo or Concerto
Competition Categories.

2. Through the online registration form, confirm that (1) all necessary
information is filled, and (2) payment transaction is successful.
Applicants will receive an email confirmation after the registration has
been processed by the organizer.

3. All participants must register under their current 2024-2025 academic enrollment. Registration is permitted for music majors and non-music majors. Applicants may choose to compete in a higher class, but may not compete in a lower class. The organization values integrity and has the right to forfeit violators.

4. Repertoire information should be filled in complete titles, and can be
filled in Mandarin or the original language of the piece. Submitted
repertoire will be reviewed, and necessary modifications will be made by
the organizer without affecting participants’ scores or results.

5. If participants wish to forfeit their application after registration, a refund may be issued if applied before July 7th. A non-refundable processing fee of $200 NTD will be deducted from your cancellation. Refunds will not be issued after July 8th.

6. The organization utilizes a third-party online payment system provided by ECPay Green World FinTech Service Co., Ltd. Please be advised that
ECPay will never contact applicants via phone or SMS to request
personal information, ATM operations, or transaction details. If you
receive any suspicious requests, kindly contact our organization
immediately.

7. All complaints or disputes to the rules and regulations of the competition will be handled by the Taipei District Court. The official competition guidelines, fan page, and website announcements constitute the legal basis for the competition. The organization reserves the adjudicative power to modify regulations under uncontrollable circumstances.

Performance Category Guidelines

1. The order of participants will be randomly selected by a computer
system, and announced on our website two weeks prior to the
performance (July 14th). Rearrangements are non-negotiable.

2. Please arrive at the venue 30 minutes before the competition and check in with your student ID card, health insurance card, or national ID card. Each contestant will be announced on stage for their turn. Failure to be prompt after three announcements will lead to disqualification.

3. The repertoire requirement is a composition of the participant’s choice.
Pieces must be played by memory, without repeats. Participants are
responsible for necessary accompaniment, though accompanimental parts will not be included in the adjudication process.

4. Participants will be timed from the start of their first note on stage,
including tuning. Each performance is limited to a maximum of 3
minutes. Taking excessive time to prepare or tune instruments will result
in point deduction.

5. Repertoire changes cannot be made after registration. No adjudications will be given if pieces differ from the registered repertoire.

6. The venue will provide a grand piano and bench. Participants are
responsible for bringing and setting up any additional equipment, such as
pedal extenders, chairs, and anti-slip mats, to ensure the quality of their
performance.

7. Participants with accompanists or assistants must arrive and leave the
venue together. If an accompanying individual must leave in advance
under special circumstances, please inform on-site personnel. Any
interference to performances caused by entering and exiting will lead to
point deduction or disqualification.

8. Photography and video recording are permitted; however, flash
photography is strictly prohibited. The organization photographs and
video records the entirety of the competition for event purposes.
Photographs and videos taken by the organization will not be available
for request. The organization holds portrait rights — including the use of
names, text, audio, video, and other materials — for promotional
purposes, free of charge.

9. In the unexpected event of a natural disaster, pandemic, etc. the
competition will be postponed or held online. Please refer to our website
for announcements and notifications.

Adjudication and Awards

1. The 2025 Performance Category will appoint 3 to 5 renowned national
musicians as judges (subject to adjustment based on the number of
participants).

2. The final score will be calculated by averaging the total score. In the
event of a tie, ranking will be determined based on the total sum of the
contestants’ scores.

3. All results are final and cannot be disputed.

4. Results will be announced at the end of each competition. Individual
scores and comments can be collected at the registration desk after
finalization. Results cannot be sent by mail or inquired separately.

5. Participants will each receive a thank-you letter for their instructor, a
certificate, and a trophy. Participants who are unable to receive their
awards in person must complete shipping arrangements at the registration desk (subject to an additional fee), or contact the organization to arrange for pickup before August 29th. Requests made after this date will not be accepted.

6. Individual notifications will be sent to the outstanding performers’
schools for further acknowledgements after results have been finalized.
